The only issue we had was that our dry bag was compromised, and electronics got wet. But within an hour of telling the employees what had happened, our money was refunded.

Very hospitable. Very happy with our trip. We will definitely be returning to Tar River Life.

My group, just us three had the entire river to ourselves; we thoroughly enjoyed our late afternoon kayak session down the Tar River. The parking lot is the end point while the drop off point is a quick mini school bus ride away. We were lucky to have ideal weather even in late October. There's almost too much shade along the river that we were kayaking to the sunny spots to warm as the sun began setting! The river speeds were extremely easygoing, with just a couple of slight drops over rocky sections of the river. I would definitely wear swimming trunks because you'll get wet-- but not soaked since you can stand ankle deep at some areas. There are "rest areas" along the river to slide up to with the kayak and take a break, if needed. Going under the bridge and taking in the scenery was pretty fun. Also bring a cooler! There's plenty of space on the kayak to hold belongings since it's an open kayak. Megan was very helpful in making a few adjustments to the reservation beforehand; she was just as pleasant on the bus ride to the drop off point and explaining everything we needed to do and know once we arrived to the riverbank. She grew up in the area, so you can definitely tell she knew what she was doing! Would recommend 10/10. I wish the river were closer, but the drive out was nice.

My first time kayaking, I went with my wife and we did the single kayaks. I did a very mild pace continuous row and finished in 45 minutes. Looking forward to the 5k race they have coming up. Hope to see others there as well! Really nice people.

Me and a group of friends took a trip up to TRL and had an awesome time.

This was my first time kayaking and this place was perfect. The staff Karla and Megan were very friendly and was eager to answer any questions. The only negative was the water level was a little low so I would go back when the water level is higher. Over all a very good experience.

Had a great and relaxing time! All the staff were super friendly and personable. Nice river go kayak on. There were some nice fast spots. I would definitely recommend this place for a good time!
